We are currently seeking an International PS Engineer-Telecom based in Raleigh (North Carolina, US).

 

Primary Responsibilities:                       

The International Professional Services Engineer will be dedicated for the monitoring platforms.

He will be working on assignments where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

 

v Apply general telecom network knowledge and working knowledge of at least one Customer product as required

v Prepare and load complex Customer product configurations and provisioning

v Complete sized implementation assignments

v Support, create and execute customer acceptance test plans (ATP’s)

v Develop and execute method of procedures (MOPs)

v Provide post-migration technical support services

v  Carry out engineering study, produce technical documents (specifications, engineering), and propose technical solutions for improving project engineering.

v  Take part in technical relations with Customers in order to qualify and control provisioning equipment and engineering data.

v Carry out system integration and configuration, consign configuration elements within project documents: engineering document, integration document, packing list.

v Carry out on-site installation, perform internal tests in order to set up the system into an operational modus, and check that the system is ready for acceptance.

v Take part with the Customer, and in the presence of the Project Manager, to acceptance testing, manage incidents notes by Customer, and propose workaround solutions if possible.

v More generally, consign occurred incidents all along the project.

v Consign the HW or SW changes carried out at Customer system, and update engineering document accordingly.

v Ensure technical assistance to the Customer until signature of final acceptance. Can be involved by Customer training.

v Report to the Project Manager after the end of each intervention (and at least once a week).

v  In a general way, propose, and develop any initiative contributing to the development of the know-how of the Company and the success of its missions, in close link with the Management of PS EAAA.

 



Experience/Skills:

Job Qualification / Experience

1 to 4 years engineer experience in PS (professional services) in the telecom industry, ideally in network monitoring.

 

Specific Competencies

The selected candidate would combine a strong technical background with great organizational and communication skills, detail-oriented, self-motivated individuals bringing a strong ability to troubleshoot problems. Inspired by the desire to understand the details involved in effectively deploying critical software and hardware and playing a key role in challenging environments.

 

v Fluent English ( Clearly communicate in English verbally or in writing)

v Mobile to fulfill Customer requirements in an international context.

v Rigorous and organized, with excellent capabilities of communication.

v Good relationnal contact.

v Goal-focused and responsible for “getting the job done”

v  Ability to self-train on new features before training courses are developed and before all source documentation is available

v  Ability to work independently and be a self starter in ambiguous project situations

v  Work productively in environments with multiple activities and changing priorities

v  Work effectively under pressure in a customer facing role in a tactful manner

v Working knowledge and experience with MS Office

v  Working knowledge of telecom networks and networks elements

v  Knowledge of Unix, Linux and Windows operating systems

 

Technical skills

As a PS Engineer - your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

v Telecommunications protocols, such as SS7 (ISUP, MAP, INAP, BSSAP), GSM, GPRS, UMTS, UTRAN, H248, BICC, VoIP, SIP, RTP, etc.,

v Technologies such as E1/T1, ITU & 3GPP protocol specifications, 

v Network interfaces such as A-Interface, Gb, Gn, GP, luCS, luPS, lur, lub, Nc, Mc etc.,

v Hardware and Software such as SUN/Oracle servers, Linux/Unix and Windows Servers, Gnome and other X- Windows apps, 

v Strong understanding of fixed, mobile and converged Telecommunication networks.

v LAN administration (TCP/IP).

v Server installation and configuration: Win 2000 and 2003.

v Site surveys (deployment of Telco networks monitoring system).

v Engineering of Telco networks monitoring system.

v Using applications of Telco networks monitoring system.

v Oracle installation and administration (not mandatory but appreciated).

 

Contract

v This position is based in North Carolina (US),

v Duration: 12 months min,

v Schedule: Full-Time,

v Model: Independent contractor status,

v Citizenship: US Citizen (preferably based in North Carolina),

v Travel: Yes (Initial training of 3-4 weeks in France)
